Nowadays, it seems that almost everybody has forgotten about werebeasts other than the werewolf. Werewolves certainly dominate the fiction. They tend to dominate the nonfiction as well: books about shapeshifters tend to have titles with the word "werewolf" in them, and tend to mostly discuss werewolves. These books will always mention that other varieties (such as werecats) exist; and if you're lucky these books might actually relate a few legends.
Ironically, a couple hundred years ago our ancestors were not quite so wolfcentric about their shapeshifters. Pick up any book of legends and lore from the middle ages, and you'll find that alongside the werewolf tales are just about as many tales about hare, cat and seal transformations!
