Finding Answers

It can be very hard to find answers about werewolves, shifters and therians. Little is known absolutely, everyone has their own opinion, and the search can be fraught with pitfalls and perils. In order to find answers beyond the scanty information available in this Codex, you'll have to be willing to put in some real thought and time, whether you are a human trying to find out what this shifter thing is all about or whether you are a shifter trying to find answers about what you really are. This "answers" page is my own meager contribution to those who are dedicated to pursuing answers about shifting. Good Luck!

I've been putting together a series of FAQs about the real questions that folks are interested in having answered, staying away from things already adequately covered in the Official AHWW FAQ. Here are the FAQs I've made:

FAQ for humans wondering about shifters

FAQ for shifters wondering about themselves and other shifters

FAQ for questions about the Codex itself

Another place you may want to go is my Dejanews-powered research center which allows you to easily search AHWW newsgroup posts of the past for dozens of relevant topics.

If you are really interested in digging up various views about shifters and spiritual therianthropy, try looking at the articles section as well.

Where are the Shifter Gurus?

In the earliest version of this website, this was the page where I gathered together a bunch of email addresses of shifter gurus who had volunteered to answer questions about shifters. However, it quickly turned into this nasty thing where everyone on the list came to me whining, saying "Why is so-and-so on the list, they don't have the same beliefs as me, so they can't know anything!"

As well as people that wanted on the list, then off the list, then back again, ad nauseum; and got angry when I didn't get their name on or off the list fast enough.

So, no more email addresses!

If you want to find shifter gurus, I guess you'll have to track them down yourself. It's not that hard; follow enough links from the handbook and sooner or later you'll come across folks that seem to know a lot about shifting, and also have a thing on their pages saying it's fine for people to email them with questions.

Before pursuing a shifter guru, it is a good idea to do your homework first, check around, find out about reputations, and be a bit cautious. It may be a good idea to read This Article first.

Resources:

On this page, I'm planning to have two types of resources for shifters to find answers about themselves: links to general resource Internet sites about the shifter movement (such as WereWeb) and a few books that are somewhat helpful.

The books I think are better are marked with a *. I'm also, albeit slowly, trying to put together a few words to say about those books I've read. Oh, and the little "Amazon" link next to some books links directly to their pages on amazon.com, where you can read more reviews and such. You should also check out A Werewolf Reading List which contains a good list of what to read (both fiction and nonfiction) in what order.

Books: (Folklore) The Stuff of Legends

Books: (New Age) From Animal Totemism to the Paranormal

Books: (Other) Other Ways to Look at the Subject

Those Internet Resources which I think are quite useful are marked with a *

Lupus Another mega-resource
